Tick tock… - mixed media clock with Art Alchemy Waxes

I'm in love with this 3D clocks from EgoCraft and decided to make another one - this time a big one.
Few days ago I showed you a small & rusty --> click!

I used a lot of Finnabair products to achieve this look - mainly Art Alchemy Paints and of course - waxes! I remind you that this clock is made of cardboard, but thanks to paints and waxes we have the end result like this :)

It was really difficult to take a pictures, but here are the best ones.

Summer Vibes - mixed media layout, Finnabair Creative Team

Hello friends,

in my today's post on Finnabair blog I'd like to share a new layout of mine - I felt like creating something with a fresh, energetic summer mood. The picture I used is a photo taken in my hometown. This is one of my favorite themes and I think it works really great in both - modern and vintage styles.

Some time ago I got a gelli plate. If you don't know it, it's a piece of something resembling gelatin and it is used for monoprinting. You can get some really spectacular effects using this tool.

I've had it for quite a while but somehow all this time I was afraid to use it... ;) But when new Impasto Paints fell into my hands, I knew it was THAT moment!

I mixed three colors - Azure, Cobalt and Snow White - and created the background for my composition. Thick Impast Paints seem perfect for this technique.

You will be able to watch how I did it in my video below - you will see that it is very easy and the effect is very interesting, although slightly unpredictable. The white dots were added at the very end with acrylic ink.

In this project I also wanted to show you how I create depth in my artworks on paper. My works are always very dimensional, with built-up layers of chipboards, piece of papers etc.

Basically, all you have to do is to separate each layer with small pieces of cardboard and then your work will immediately gain this unique 3D quality that makes it look so much more interesting.

I hope you will feel encouraged by my art adventure today and in your next project feel brave to try to use something that scares you. Dare to experiment, try out a new tool or technique - if you have fun and learn to enjoy the process, I'm sure the effects will be wonderful :)

Here's my step by step video, I hope you will enjoy it and feel the Summer Vibe ;) If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below - I will be happy to help.

And this is after several layers of Patina & Rust effect paste from Finnabair. For the final touch I used Art Alchemy waxes.

Mixed media beach cabin - for Finnanbair Creative Team

Hello friends,
this is my new project for Finnabair Creative Team. I made a project playing with my favorite nautical theme.

While I was cleaning my house, I found this adorable little cardboard house and decided to decorate it and turn into a special keepsake box for the shells I once collected. I have always liked the style of traditional beach cabins and I wanted to create a miniature version of such a house.

I used the amazing new Impasto Paints to paint my little house. They are so perfect for any kind of project - they come in a variety of rich colors and become permanent when dry - this is really important when you want to add more paints or mists later on.

I wanted this cabin to look as if it was exposed to wind and water for a very long time. Different sizes of Art Stones, torn net and pieces of gauze are a perfect combo to achieve this look. A little bit of Patina Effect Pastes and White Gesso worked great for the finishing touches. You can watch the whole project in the video I made especially for you (see below).

If you're wondering how I glued on all the dimensional embellishments like the starfish and the sea shells for example, you will see in my video that I'm using hot glue. This is the best solution, especially if you're an impatient person like me :) The hot glue is very strong and you can be sure that your project will become unchanged for many years to come.

As with many of my creations, I couldn't resist using the beautiful Art Alchemy Waxes. They are my perfect products! You can literally use them with every kind of project and they are a brilliant tool to add delicate brilliance to chosen elements of your piece, or to deliciously enhance the details and textures.

From time to time I like to make something useful but most of my projects are "just" decorations. You certainly know how much space you need to store them! :) So I thought that sometimes it might be also a good idea to combine 'pleasant' and 'decorative' with' useful' :) Self-made items for storage are a perfect personalised decoration for your studio. So I hope you like my idea!

And here is a video - enjoy!
