Trust Your Heart - mixed media canvas for Lindy's Gang - with video!

Hello,
today I have for you my new, very personal, close to my heart project created on a black canvas.

Try working with dark background and you’ll see how amazing Lindy’s colors look on such a surface. Sometimes you can even discover completely new shades to colors you love!

This time I made the whole composition on a dark background but used bright flowers, papers, and shiny sprays to make the project luminous and joyful. I also used embossing powders in several places, which made this canvas even more sparkly.

Basic Process
  1. Use stencil and modeling paste on your canvas, stick some big chipboard elements onto the surface
  2. Cover everything with black gesso or black acrylic paint,
  3. Add your composition – papers, chipboards, photo, flowers, and embellishments,
  4. Choose colors and add to your project, try to add the color on the sides of your composition, not in the center, you can use water to achieve a watercolor effect and interesting stain patterns
  5. To finish, splash everything with white paint and it’s ready!

I have created a video to show you step-by-step how to make something like this for yourself.

Lost & Found - mixed media banners

Hello!

Today I have for you seemingly simply project... :) But control over this rust pastes is a big challenge for me! This time I used Camouflage Set Rust Effect Paste

The main heroes of these banners are beautiful metal casts from polish manufacture - Mitform. I'm in love with these!

For this project I used only Impasto Paints (jade, lemon peel & dark chocolate) and Art Alchemy Wax (white gold). And of course - rust pastes.
I really like this artwork and I hope that you'll enjoy it too.

Things I like - for RetroKraftShop DT

Witajcie!

Hello!
In my first post for the Retrokraftshop, I would like to show you a project that is a very good reflection of what I like. My favorite colors, layers, a little bit of mess, flowers, wings and inseparable white splashing. I created the whole composition on a round wooden base that can resist many experiments and media, that's why I like working on this type of surface.

After covering the entire background with gesso, I used thick and mat Impasto paint to add some color, I used one of my favorites - Jade. These paints are permanent after drying and you can add mists or other water media, without the risk of something being blurred or mixed.

Dodatkowo podkreśliłam je jeszcze woskiem w kolorze Red Amber

The whole project is very spacious, the layers are separated from each other by pieces of cardboard. Between pieces of paper I stuck curly moss, flowers, string. I painted the resin wings with alcohol inks, which perfectly adhere to such a smooth surface and give strong, saturated colors. In addition, I highlighted them with Red Amber wax.

Dzięki szklanym kaboszonom i farbom akrylowym z łatwością zrobicie dodatki, które będą idealnie pasowały do waszego projektu. Wystarczy pomalować kaboszony od spodu wybranym kolorem i gotowe. Ja użyłam do tego celu farby Art Alchemy w kolorze Mermaid Teal.

With round glass cabochons and acrylic paints, you can easily make embellishments that will perfectly match with your project. Just paint the cabochons from the bottom with the chosen color and it's ready. I used Art Alchemy paint - Mermaid Teal color.

Rusty banner - Finnabar Creative Team

Hello!

Today I wanted to show you a project that I had in mind for a long time. I must admit that when Rust Effect Pastes were released, I reached for them with great enthusiasm, but something didn't work, somehow I didn't feel them. I kept using them from time to time, but usually just as an accent of color, not to create the actual faux rust effect. However, I didn't give up and I finally created this project that I really like! :)

I wanted the background of my artwork to be rough and to create the impression of an old, time-worn surface covered with tiny pebbles and some kind of weathered organic forms. To achieve such effect, I mixed Modeling Paste with Mini Art Stones and spread them on my surface. Then I applied paints and pastes on these tiny stones which only enriched and highlighted their effect.

I painted my background with Impasto paints which are completely permanent when they dry. This is their great advantage as they didn't blend or mix with other colors when I added more media and sprays later on in the process.

In this piece I used a lot of embellishments. You can use ready-made elements like for example the beautiful Mechanicals, but you will certainly find lots of treasures in your drawers.
Old buttons, jewelry, watches parts, even uninteresting or ordinary shapes will become unique after being treated with paints and different kinds of pastes. Add some chipboards and their leftovers and your artwork will be even more interesting.

Please, enjoy my video tutorial and I hope you'll feel encouraged to reach for media, embellishments and techniques that have been difficult for you so far. Maybe this time it will be the day when everything will go much easier and you'll discover a new favorite of yours? :)

I'm really happy that I didn't give up on these gorgeous Rust Pastes! :)
